Resin Bound Gravel Driveway and Wheelchair Accessible Ramp, Didcot
After living in his Didcot home for 43 years, Andrew wanted to make his driveway safer, more practical and accessible. The existing driveway had become difficult to maintain, with weeds growing through the surface and loose gravel becoming a particular concern on the slope.
The uneven levels were also creating potential trip hazards. We also installed a new ramp for Andrew, to provide easier access from the driveway to the existing garden path.
Our team completely transformed the space by levelling the main driveway to create a smooth surface, bringing it level with the existing patio outside the main entrance. The slope down to the road remained but the new resin-bound gravel provided a much safer, non-slip surface to walk and drive on.
When choosing the resin-bound surface, Andrew asked us to match the colour of the existing gravel around his home. The closest match was Oxfordshire Oats, a colour he was particularly pleased with, as he has lived in Oxfordshire for many years.
We also addressed the existing wall, which had been built in 1989. The bricks along the top had begun to deteriorate, and Andrew was unsure whether the wall should be removed altogether. After discussing the options with our team, we agreed that keeping the wall would provide important structural benefits. Instead, we replaced the damaged bricks on top, preserving the wall while giving it a new lease of life.
The result is a safer, cleaner and lower-maintenance driveway that Andrew can enjoy with confidence. Most importantly, he was extremely happy with the finished project and feels much safer moving around his home.
“I couldn’t criticise them in any way, it was like working with friends, really good.”
